Jennifer

by Dee Newman

For awhile it all was ours
Trembling leaves against the sky
Wild as a field of flowers
Touched only by the eye

And though it sure seems love
Has falling with the leaves
She's all I ever dream of
Can't help but make believe
And I long to see her freckled face
And I long to be in her embrace
For I miss so much the scent of her
The kiss, the touch of Jennifer
She was all I ever wanted
Far more than I will ever need
Left me lost and haunted
Like the lonesome tumbleweed

And though I missed my chance
Lord, it was worth the try
For there was magic on the distance
Where the earth touched the sky
And I long to see her freckled face
And I long to be in her embrace
For I miss so much the scent of her
The kiss, the touch of Jennifer
